E320 1995 runing rough
 

I was getting the following codes

pin3 codes 5, 8,9,26

pin6 codes 2,3,8,9

pin 14 codes 5,6,14

Car is running very rough at idle.
I have the list of the codes,
but maybe there is more than that.

Radu, our 1995 E320 suddenly developed a rough idle (severe shaking at idle) a few months ago. Not sure what the codes mean, but in our case one of the 3 coil packs was bad. Replaced it (trial and error method of a new coil in each of the 3 positions) and the engine is running fine again.

You want the codes from the HFM/SFI module..
That is pin 8 and there IS a connector in pin 8.

I am looking for the codes for pin 6 .... Pin 8 has NO codes.
I got the download for pin 3 pin 8 and pin 14 when I did the diagnostic for my car.Now we are taking a different one, this is my uncle's E320 1995 wagon.

You do not have to go to pin 3 on that chassis...that is DM and the Led/Sw combo address those codes.

how does that pin works?
There is a small pushbutton and an LED next to it. How can I retrieve the codes for that pin?

It's just like the code reader - hold the button down and count the flashes. Most people start with the built-in LED and progress to the code reader. Sounds like you've down it backwards.

I did change the wiring harness on the car reset all codes drove it for 1000miles ad got the following codes.

Pin 3 code 5
pin 6 code 2, 3, 8, 9
pin14 code 5, 6, 14
car struggles to get to 40mph is shaking and vibrating. Once past 40mph and getting onto 4th speed it drives better.

Post the code descriptions, rather than just the numbers. Not many people have the code lists memorized.

He still uses pin #3 reference instead of Built-in LED , but that's OK..
He has a suspect sticking EGR fault/problem, but I have mentioned that before.....

I do not have the list for pin6??????

See post #5, page 114. Pin 6 is SRS, not relevant to the engine problem.

I gave him that SRS module codes info weeks ago..

There does seem to be some memory loss here. Maybe he should just try to forget that the engine is running rough.
