Air Conditioning Problem......on a 2000 E320
I have a 2000 E320 W210 and I am having a problem with my A/C. The economy light on my climate control unit will not go off not allowing my compressor to kick in. I can press any button on the unit but the EC light stays on. It is a problem with the climate control push button unit itself? From the price of those things I hope not. I am hoping it is some other electrical part that is the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The most likely problem is low refrigerant level.
Search for the diagnostic procedures and extract the trouble codes from the pushbutton unit. |

Pull the AC actual values and codes using the CCU unit.
EC is on to keep compressor from damaging itself. Actual values: engine on, ac set to auto @ 72f, press and hold rest for 5 secs, toggle through first 8 screens using left auto button. Post results. will give you instruction for pulling the codes this evening if no one else does in the mean time. *edit* link to code retreival http://www.continentalimports.com/ser_ic40142.html

Could be the evaporator temp sensor.
