wouldn't the UAE have different maintenance intervals then the U.S.?
but 65K miles does seem a but low, but 100Kmiles may be about right. Higher temps, higher speeds?, and increased dust, would those effect a timing chain lifespan? |
khooper, you must be thinking of something else. It's inconceivable for the M104 timing chain to be changed once a year as a matter of routine. I wouldn't even begin to show concern until 120~150K.

But seriously, the M104 doesn't share the timing chain issues of some earlier MB engines, so at 65K I wouldn't even consider replacing it. Now, if I was doing a head gasket/valve job on a high mileage M104, I might consider replacing the chain just for insurance purposes, only because it doesn't cost much, and it's an easy job when the cylinder head is removed. |
Thanks to all of you who took the time to reply
