190E 2.6 Auxiliary Fan Not Working
Hello Everyone,
I own a 1992 190E 2.6. The auxiliary fans don't seem to be kicking on when the car runs hot. However, I ran a wire from each fan directly to the battery and both fans turn on, so I know the fans work. The temperature switch is new. Anything else that I can troubleshoot? Any help would be appreciated! -D |

Can you be a little bit more specific? I apologize, I am not very familiar with this engine. Not sure what you mean by pull plug off 2 wire blue sensor?? |

with ignition on, fan does NOT come on when I unplug the sensor.
|
OK
Behind the fuse box are some relays ..look at the fuse on top of this one http://catalog.worldpac.com/mercedesshop/sophio/image.jsp?title=Relay&url=http%3A//img.eautopartscatalog.com/live/P202070194OES.JPG |
There are two relay switches made out of aluminum on top of the fuse box. There is space for three, but the right-most relay is missing! could this be the one you're talking about?
|
have a fuse on top??????????
|
No fuses, just a bare, square metal relay switch
|
You looking behind the fuse box???
You have to take a few screws out to get ther cover off.. Forget that for now.. On the a/c drier , next to the radiator, there is a sw with 2 wire pigtail lead ..jumper them together at the end of the pigtail connectors with the key On..do you have low Fan???? |
The fuse box cover attaches with a clamp. I looked around and could not find a cover with two screws!
Also, I tired jumping the two pigtail leads on the ac drier with the ignition on but the fans don't come on. That's assuming I did it right. I have very little experience with the 190e's |
|
That's it! It's attached to the a/c drier.
NOTE- Let's back up. Originally when you told me to unplug the blue sensor, I unplugged the wrong one. I located the right sensor and the FAN (the one on the left) TURNS ON However, it still doesn't kick on when the car hits 100 degrees |
