ABS & ASR lights and Brake Pedal Switch question

Both ASR & ABS ligths came on suddenly yesterday on my S 500 L. Reading posts about the subject I have decided to try replacing the Brake Pedal Sensor Switch, which seems a common culprit on the subject.

My questions is this:

Should I disconnect the battery before replacing the switch and AFTER replacing the switch should I follow a certain procedure to reset any electronic systems (for example turning the steering wheel from lock position to lock position, or anything similar)???

I know if I have to disconnect the battery that I need to reprogram the radio and the windows, but what else?

Thank very much in advance for your help!
