Public Service Announcement -- To all those with an A/C cabin filter
Last week I posted a thread about locating the low pressure inlet on my A/C. I was considering checking in and maybe adding freon due to a lack of cooling power. I "thought" I had also noticed a reduction in blower power/volume but wasn't sure. In the midst of all that I found threads about the cabin filter. So...I decided to look at and then replace mine.
HOLY GUACOMOLE! The difference is indescribable. It is 95 or so degrees here today. Previously, I would have had to have it on 3rd blower setting and the temp on 52...and still be a little warm. Now, I had to just now turn it down to the lowest blower setting and the temp up to 66...it was freezing me. My filter was filthy, so your experience may vary, but I'd recommend that everyone that hasn't changed or checked theirs lately to do so. It is very easy to pull out -- heck, if you aren't sure if it needs to be changed, just turn it on without the filter for 5 minutes just to check. My filter was only $25. Its like I have a new car. |
Replacing the filter is a regular maintenance item.
Amazing how much crap they trap. Jim |

Well, thanks for clearing that up. I think my Lincoln has one, but it's a '98. I was hoping to boost my cooling power with just a filter change. I guess I'll just have to have it recharged . . . .

A/C filter on my w210 E320 997 also was replaced 1 month ago when I bought the car.
I cannot agree more! The old filter is was indeed beyond dirty. The quality of airconditioning after the replacement is rewarding. I made sure my friends ;ownersof MB were aware of this. |
W210 Dust Filters

I have been unable to remove the glove box from my '02 E320 to access the dust filters. All attaching hardware is out, but I can't pop the tab on the back of the box from locating slot. I've been told there is a tab and slot. Any tricks you can send my way? Thanks Wray |
