Chassis code for 96-02 E class? And common problems?
 

Kind of a newbie question but whats the chassis code for the 96 to 02 E class?

Also what are common problems they have? Are they reliable? How would the compare to BMW E39(97-03 5 series) cars?

The 1996-97 E320 was a W210.055 chassis & the 1998-02 E320's are W210.065.

There are different variants of the chassis.

The best cars are the latest ones. The longer a car is made the better it gets.

1996-97 cars had interior issues with cracks & color changes.
The early electronic transmissions were "weak"!

Somewhat different from a 528i (E39). The E-class has more room & rides better BUT the bimmer handles better. The up-keep is similar.
