Need Keys!!!!!!!!

I bought my brother a 1992 300e yesterday, but the lady only had 1 key for the car. I know you can't get copies made at any key place, so I need to know how to get a pair of factory keys. Anyone know what to do?

Thanks in advance,

JayGH

I've been told that you have to order the key from an authorized MB dealer and that you must bring vehicle title, registration papers, etc. with you.

Check with a local MB dealer for details.

Keys are only about 9 bucks! :D

My dealer told me all I needed was registration, vin, and id, and like $15.00 to get the key or maybe it was keys.

I myself would rather spend extra and get a complete set of factory keys, two regular, and one valet key. that way I'd have extras.

Hmm, I think the list price is about $11 per key. Now that I think about it, I believe I got mine for $11. This is for a 1995 C280 with no electronics in it. Plain old Mercedes key. I don't think should be more than this. If so, go to a different dealer, because that one is ripping you off! :D

I take my cars to a special Mercedes-Benz mechanic. I got a copy of a key for my car through him and it was only $10. Do you have mechanic in your area that works on MBs? If so, check with them and see if you can get the keys through them.

Wow, you guys are getting off cheap! I've had keys made for my car (89 W124), my wifes car ('92 W201) and my mom's car (86 W201) and each time (and in three difference places) the cost of the key was $25!! These are milled from a solid blank, not just teeth cut out. I'm sure that most other MBZ keys are the same way, except for the later ones with the 'electronics' in them...

I'd like to know where to get keys cheaper than $25 each... By the way, I live in the Monterey Bay area of California.
