Unhappy 560sl blower cuts out and starts

Help 1988 560sl Ac works fine, nice and cold but after 5 min the blower shuts off. I get nothing at all on AC or heat. Wait 10 min and it starts up again for another 5 min. Acts like a circuit breaker overheating but I don't see any to check. Any ideas? I hate to throw parts at it with no results.
Thanks in advance
Dave

My money is on the CCU. The solder joints get old and crack - so they become temperture depenedent based on how warm or cold the plastic is. Can you press the buttons or wiggle the area around the buttons and get any blower response?
You can get a rebuilt one for $225 from BenzBarn out of Georgia.

I found this to be a bad ignition switch (hard to believe but true) on my 560SL. Jiggle the key.

Common for the fuse link to have a slight/hairline crack that can not be seen well...test both sides w/test lamp.

went looking and found a small 2 fuse block on pass side by circulator pump. 2 wires on 1 side and 1 on the other. Cleaned ends and fan ran alot longer but wouldn't restart after it cut out. May have this narrowed down a bit. What is the other fuse in the block for? Would I be better off replacing the block with 2 inline plug in fuses?
Thanks
Dave

Intermittent operation is also caused by the brushes in the motor reaching the end of their travel limits. Time for a new motor.
