Manuals or books for '84 500SL
This is a new car for me and I'm trying to find a Haynes manual, or the CD's or almost anything else that could guide me on keeping it going and checking on it. (I'm not up to doing my
own maintenance, but want to know what's what if I can :) But all I find are for US versions... Can I use books for '85 560SL? Any suggestions ? l |
You could use books or discs for most everything you need to know about the chassis from the 84 (85 should work fine) SL chassis (107). In regards to more specific engine information, you could maybe find engine information on a 126 chassis book or disc that covers the 84 or 85 500SEL, these are both 117.96 engines, 117 M50's. The info on the 107 chassis should take priority, I don't think the specific engine data will be as neccesary as the info for the chassis itself......

If you are only needing info to see how to operate the car you could quite easily have a different set of A/C controls. Most other functions will be similar.

And now that you mention it, the MB service discs do get into Euro climate control systems, and also I believe some other systems we normally don't see in the US, so maybe the MB 107 chassis disc may be the best route for him to take..... Gilly |
Yes, now that you mention it. I forgot how confusing the info was sometimes if you got on the wrong system. It always seemed so strange that MB would put in euro A/C systems but never discuss a euro engine management system. They still do it in WIS.
I don't know how much info he wants but its all there (almost) on the CD. |
Thanks guys... I'm off to find a set of CDs... part of
the issue (that got me started on this) is that the heater/ac buttons are different... I don't have two dials for example... not the end of the world, but can be confusing. Thanks again for your imput. Joe |
Joe:
You can buy that disc here, I believe at "fastlane", probably be the quickest. Or else your dealer can order it, or you can get it direct from Ma Benz at 1 800 FOR-MERCedes Gilly |
