Dumb newbie question-spark plug wire removal?
how do you get the plug wire off the spark plug on the 190E. I pulled and twisted 3 of them and no luck. I want to change the plugs, but can't get the damned plug wire off. Is there something I'm missing. Much oblige, this is a great forum board!!

You're gonna need special tool #102.long.nose.plier. Heh, heh, heh.

You're right, twisting won't work, and don't keep twisting and pulling, you'll break something. They make a spark plug wire removal too just for Mercedes for about $30 or so and others make a generic one without the $20 Mercedes logo on that would probably work.
You bring up the only shortcoming in the otherwise excellent Mercedes maintance schedule, the spark plug wires should be regularly removed IMHO. |
Good thing you are changing the plugs, too. If it has been several thousand miles since the last change (dang platinum plugs), the plug wires aren't the only things that will give you grief trying to remove, as the plugs may be molecularly bonded to the head! Use some anti-seize compound when you reinstall.

Jaxson,
Did you get the plug wires off yet? Don't waste your $$$. |
