1987 560 sel vaccum issue
 

Hi,
I have three unattached vaccum lines that appear to run under the throttle body assembly, they are vaccum lines attached to a right angle rubber piece and i cannot see where they attach. Must i remove the throttle body assembly to ensure proper attachment. Anyone possibly have Vaccum diagram for 1987 560 sel?

The 3 vacuum lines do attach to the throttle body. The nipples they attach to point towards the rear of the car making in very difficult to attach the lines with everything assembled. It can be done but it is very difficult. Your best bet is to take the air flow meter off so that you can access the rear of the throttle body. This would be a good time to renew all of the idle air distribution hoses and even the rubber boot part of the air flow meter if it is hard or cracking. Dig up the diagram before you tear into it, the vacuum ports on the throttle body are not all the same and get vacuum at different throttle angles. So you want to make sure you connect the right line to each port.

is this term interchangeable with another? I cannot locate it on my cd rom service manual.

In the EPC it is called the air flow sensor. It is the part that has the boot that attaches over the throttle butterfly. The fuel distributor sits on top of it. For your situation you would remove it, the fuel distributor and fuel lines all together.

when taking off the air flow sensor to reach the rear of the throttle body to reattach the lovely hoses that are loose, does it make any sense to replace fuel injectors while all is apart? or just clean them? i have read that replacing injectors is better than cleaning? any thoughts are appreciated. 1987 560 sel with 198,000 miles
