w124 front wiindow regulator assembly removal

I've read the threads and the Haynes manual, but I don't quite follow the correct sequence to separate the regulator from the window. This is for the front passenger window, on a 1987 300e. I have lowered the window and removed the nut at the far left, which secures the slide to the window. I think the next step is to tilt the window and remove the slides, but the window doesn't budge. In order to remove the slides, should I first remove the two nuts securing the slides to the door (not the three nuts attaching the regulator/motor assembly to the door), or raise the window? I'm sure this is easy, but I've never done this before, so I'm stumped, and I don't want to loosen something and FUBAR the entire process. Thanks.

You won't get into trouble taking all the bolts out. With the bolts out you can slide the whole regulator assembly to get the slider out of the channel in the bottom of the glass. If you have tint you want to be careful moving the regulator around as it can scratch the tint. It does get to be a juggling act with the glass free of the regulator, it would be good to have a helper that can hold the glass up and out of the way once it is freed.

So, while the glass is lowered, its safe first to remove the rest of the regulator nuts and get the slides out; then push the glass up and have it taped or held; remove the regulator assembly; lower the glass and fit the new slides onto the glass; and then retach the nuts. Thanks.

You've got it, it's not terribly hard but you will wish you had 3 hands to do the job.

Thanks very much. Now I'm really looking forward to "Sunday in the Driveway with w124"!
