Unhappy 300e misfire

My 1989 300e has a serious misfire between 4800-5000 rpm
It misfires in neutral and when driven in automatic or when second or third gear is selected.
New plugs, plug leads, distributor cap, rotor, fuel filter have been fitted . To start the engine it requires that the gas pedal is pumped 3/4 times it will then start in 2-3 seconds and run ok, the problem not occuring until the above revs are reached
It appears like fuel starvation. Have i a problem with fuel pump or delivery pressure ? Any ideas
Regards,
Richard Keane

At this point, I would suggest a professional. You should find a Mercedes Specialist.
