Waxilit 22-54
Is anyone familiar with the above product? The entire print on the can is in German. Supposedly, it is used as a lubricant for the operating window seals. I have been trying to get info for a few years on exactly what it is and how to apply it.

Waxilit is a paste wax for making work surfaces slick and is also used as a glue resist in wood working.

I think Waxilit is the brand name, and they make different products. The product Mercedes uses is Waxilit 22-54. The Mercedes part number is 000-989-26-58-10. It now retails for $58. That's a one liter can. Our shop has a can that we've been using for over 20 years that is still half full. It is a miracle product. Applied to soft top or retractable hard top seals, it eliminates creaks and squeaks due to body flex like magic. We have an applicator that looks like a cotton ball on a wire. The same kind of applicator you get in a can of PVC glue. It is a wax in solvent. After you apply it, the solvent evaporates and leaves a coat of wax.

A very thin layer of "Honda Shin-Etsu Grease" works great for lubricating and eliminating seal creaks during body flex. Wipe a tiny amount on the seal, rub it in, and wipe off excess with a clean rag. You'll think there's so little grease remaining that it couldn't possibly make any difference, but it definitely does. Shin-Etsu grease is routinely recommended on car forums if you want to read up on it.
