W210 Radio/ AC center Console - Wood Removal / Replacement ?
1999 E300D w210
Need to replace the wood panel on my center console after a gorilla burgler trashed it trying to remove my aftermarket navigation unit. I've got the radio and AC/Heat controls cout and removed the two screws from under the radio section.....but the center vents are holding the wood panel at the top. Now what? How do I remove the center vents at the top so the wood panel can come free. Warren C. |

Not much help
Thanks for the diagram...but I don't see any screw in my center vent unit...no holes or removeable cover to get to one.
Best I can guess is the horizontal wood trim above the vents that goes across the whole dashboard must come out to reveal some screws underneath....but then....how to get that wood trim piece out? WC |

Pull the 2 moveable center vents out, use pliers or needlenose - they just pop out. Then you'll see 2 screws going down. That's the way my 91 2.3 is.

Your car is a W123...mine a W210 chassis..entirely different. Found out this AM that the center vent is held by the wood trim at the top and two screws on the bottom that can only be removed AFTER the wood center console is out.. I just can't get my wood center trim to come out. Hung up on something at the top....must be the switches or their wiring. Warren |

Procedure AR68.20-P-2350F applies:
1) Remove radio (using radio tools). 2) Unscrew screws under top edge of radio opening. 3) On vehicles with automatic air conditioning remove pushbutton panel (using radio tools). 4) Pull panel back at the bottom and down at the same time to get top edge out from under the dash wood trim. 5) Disconnect wiring. 6) Remove wood panel. It is not necessary to remove the dash wood trim. I think you must have the dash out to perform that procedure. |
