Blinking lamps

94 S320, do not have anti-theft alarm. Whenever I locked the doors using the infrared remote the doors would lock and a blinking lamp on the radio on/off knob blinks while the car is in lock mode. Today when locking the doors I noticed I now have a second blinking lamp this one located on the centre console locking switch. I have checked all doors and all locks are down and doors locked, all windows/sunroof are closed.
Can anyone shed some light as to what the now new blinking light indicates.

All USA & North American W140 chassis had alarm systems as standard equipment.

The blank switch w/ LED is to show when the alarm is active.

I was led to believe by the previous owner this car had no alarm. Whenever I locked it and then tested the doors the alarm didn,t go off, no exterior lights flashed or horn sounded. Eversince I've had the car and locked it its only had the one blinking lamp in the radio on/off switch only never both in the centre console switch and radio on/off till now.....strange.

Canada version did not have the ATA
Buit , if you have the LED, it should have it.
Does the led go off when you unlock the doors?

Yes, both the blinking lights go off when doors are unlocked. Everything seems to work fine, its just strange why now after 14yrs I supposedly have an alarm on indicater.

According to the schematic, the C version jumpers the ATA circuit for K38 relay,so there is no interlock/start circuit.
But , it still may have the Led circuit.
Open a drivers side window, exit and lock the car to get the led to blink, and then pull the door lock up manually and open the door ..see what happens.

Arthur.....Locked the doors with remote and both led lights are blinking. Pulled up on the door handle nothing happens, pulled up on the lock button and opened the door and led lights still blinking and parking lights front and rear are now flashing. Shut the door and locked with remote, back to 2 blinking led lights. So can I assume this is normal and that the car has some type of alarm system ?

Yes, you have ATA
But, you may not have starter interlock.
So, this time get in the car and put the alarm on [ blinking led] and try the key for start.

Look at emmissions sticker under hood ..is this US version or Canadian. heh ?

OK

Car is US version and has full ATA system

Reason you did not see led before was probably a loose fuse connection
Clean fuses 11/12 and specially "C"
System is now working as it should and you do have the K38 relay starter interlock system.
