not just another OVP question....

need to deal with possible OVP issue on 1993 190E 2.3 . consensus on this forum is that it uses a dual-fuse, 9 pin OVP....however, the socket is a 7 pin.....please help end my confusion. TIA

Different years use different OVP's. I got a dual fuse OVP from a 1991 190. It's a 9 pin. However, I also picked up a 7 pin OVP from a 1989.
It has a single 10A fuse with a black top.

FYI. Numbers on the 7 pin are 89 71 62 Let me know if this is the one you need. cdplayer51@pacbell.net

i think its federal. talked to a friendly local dealer tech, he said the replacemnets are all 9-pin, but will work(somehow?) in the 7-pin sockets. i suppose the 2 extra pins control something in thats not available on this car.

All 7 pin get replaced with 9 pin..the extra circuit is for chassis w/trans modules. So, if you have an earlier chassis , that circuit is not used.
They are doing this with many parts today for cost control..it is cheaper to have the extra circuit intergrated during the manufacture process than it is to make several different part # and circuit configurations.
One fits all is the concept..and the logic is overall cost control.
