W210 electric seat position / adjustment

Well, my 194k W210 E300TD just came back from the transmission shop with a new torque converter and remanufactured tranny in place. All is finally well in that department.

The electric-adjustment driver's seat is out of whack. It will move in all directions as usual. However, it won't adjust very far back -- not even close to the whole length of the seat rail. It stops as though it thinks it is at the end of its travel. Unfortunately, it's an inch or so too close to the steering wheel for where I want it.

Is it somehow "out of sync" on its position? Is there a way to reset? Or is this an actual electromechanical problem with the seat?

Thanks for any tips --
Cheers, John

I think I have read somewhere that you bring the seat back forward as far as possible, and then bring the whole seat back as far as possible, holding for 5 seconds. It might be worth a try

This is for head rests sync in the manual should work for the seat itself.

"turn key in steering lock to position 2, move seat completely forward and the head restraint full down, and hold respective buttons for approx 2 seconds".

let us know if this works.

X2, yep, do the reset procedure and all will be well again. You might also have issues with the power windows, sunroof and radio code too.

for windows, close them and once fully closed, keep pressing the button for each window in the up/close position for additional three seconds. that'll sync the windows.

Thanks, folks. When I get home from work this evening, I'll see about re-syncing my seat. The driver-side front window is working fine already -- nothing needs to be done there. I haven't checked any of the others. The radio was also fine and did not require putting in the security code.

Cheers, John
