Engine removal on 300 TE 4matic.......

It would appear that I need to replace and rings and pistons on my twin turbo 300 TE 103 ,I currently have taken off the head ,hoping that was the cause of my low compression problems ie (cylinders 1-5 70 PSI and cylinder 6 approximately 150 PSI)and head has check out ok .So now I have the major task of removing the engine so can any one tell me..

1. If there is a workshop manual available that covers the 4matic.

2. And if there is a way of removing the pistons without removing the engine etc. (I know I’m clutching it straws) as you can in the 2WD version.

The factory hard copy manual and the cd both cover engine removal. The factory position is to remove the engine/tranny as a unit and separate after they are out, then reassemble prior to reinstallation. There isn't any way I can imagine to remove pistons without removing the engine on a 4matic because of the hardware under the engine. The front diff is in the middle of where you want to be, I believe, and the 4matic pan isn't coming off with the engine in the car. Let me know if you find a better way or if you determine the engine can be pulled without the tranny.
