M112 Crankshaft Possition Sensor (W202)
I am having intermittent hot start problems. Several times now my car would not re-start after it reaches operating temp and then gets turned off. I have to wait 15-30min before it will restart. From research on the forum I have concluded the CPS may be at fault. I attempted to locate the CPS and believe I have found it but it does not look the same as in some of the other pictures I have seen. Can you please look at the included photos at let me know if this is the CPS. Also if it is please give me some hints on removing it as I have tried but do not have enough clearance against the engine to release the clip.

Doesn't it have a torx bolt that holds in place?

Ok now I know I am on the right track. I went to the local dealer and purchased the part. As of now I am unable to remove the wire harness from the sensor. The problem is you need to press in on both sides to release it but I have no clearance on the left side. I can fit my finger between the engine block and sensor. I attempted to use long reach needle nose pliers but that did not work either.
Any suggestions?

It appears you could slip a small screwdriver under the "clip" or "ear" if you will, and just pry it away from the little latch bump. I have done that before on similar connectors although I have never worked on that specific one.

push down on it first, squeeze the tabs, then pull it off.

I cant thank you enough. I did exactly this and it came right off, so much for the hour of messing with it previously. I also found a 1/4" socket fits the bolt perfectly. The total repair took me only 30min after I had the part. I can't believe the local shop wanted $460 (part plus 3 HOURS labor) how can they get off charging 3 hours on something that takes 15-30min?
btw the local MB dealer had the part in stock and I paid $120 for it, thats a $340 savings. Here is the culprit:
