can i use a topsider to change transmission fluid?

Sort of, but not really. You can use the topsider to empty the transmission pan before removing it. It's easy and there's no mess. But you still need to drop the pan to change the filter. Removing the filter also drains a bunch more fluid out of the transmission. And of course you need to get under the car to drain the torque converter, a topsider is not of any use there.
