2000 E430 FSS Interval Resetting Procedure

I searched and did not find any results, although I think this subject has come up before. Anyway, a good friend of mine has a 2000 E430 in pristine condition. The only problem he has is the FSS service reminder is on and the procedure in the manual doesn't clear it. I tried and it didn't work, then I tried the procedure I use on my 1998 E300 TurboDiesel, and that didn't work either. Anyone know how to reset this reminder?

Thanks, Jim

I think this procedure is a mystery but was hoping someone had already unraveled it and would be willing to let me in on the secret. Jim

remind me, on a 2000 is there a "R" button or a "0" button?

essentially you turn the key on, scroll to the mileage display, turn the key off, press and hold whichever button and turn the key back on and continue holding untill it resets. door should be closed.

Thanks for the response. The car is not mine and I will have to go check it out. My 1998 has an "r" on the right side of the pod, and a "0" on the left side of the pod. Jim

Well, I tried it today. A 2000 E430 has an "R" button on the left side of the pod only. It took about 2 minutes for the system to give a peep and then reset. However, when we started the car the old message came back on. Is there some reason for that, like the car is trying to tell us it has some kind of illness that requires attention?

click link above then go to MB Workshop Resources, then at the bottom of the open list select Reset Service Indicator, don't think they have 210 chassis specifically but some info there may help
