SL500 ABS brake problem, need help

Hello,
Just this morning my 97 sl500 developed a strange problem . While driving at a slow speed down my street the brakes began activating electronically by themselves. It was a very strong surging, pulsing, brake lockup situation that I do not believe is a mechanical but a computerized problem. The caution triangle symbol also flashes. Any ideas ?

Are all 4 tires exactly the same?

Is the ESP lamp on?

Yes, All the wheels are the same. The braking happens when I am trying to accelerate. Especially on the left front wheel. I also can hear the actuators coming on and off , on and off.
