W124 diff.. Euro spec?
Hey!
I have a Euro spec W124 E220 Auto and I'm really confused RE the diff ratio. Some say it is 3.07 yet others say Euro spec cars have 3.27 or something? Anyone have the answer to this? Cheers Jeff |
the answer is stamped on the side of your diff
|
Yes, you have to look at your diff as Euro spec E classes could be ordered with a variety of ratios.
|
The W124.022 sedan chassis(94-95) uses a 3.67/1 with a 5 speed manual trans &
a 3.07/1 with an automatic trans. |
Thx all.
So there's no such thing that Euro Spec 124s may have different diff ratios. All are 3.07/1 then? Cheers |
Every model chassis can have a different ratio & some "national" versions can be different. The USA never had that model.

On the subject of diffs, I have a failed diff in my 300d w124 1992 and have seen one for sale from a 300te are they physically interchangeable? I suspect the final drive ratios may be different but at this point I'm willing to put up with that (may even make my 300 a little pacier through the lower gears).
Any help gratefully received, and hello to all on this forum. Simon. |
Yes, that differential is of the same physical size & bolt pattern.

Thank you very much, its is greatly appreciated, not all forums have someone of your considerable experience willing to answer questions for the public. Thank you once again.
