oil, bas, cel comes on w140 P1747,1605,1163
I have a new problem which appearred just last night. My BAS light came on and just shortly after my cel and oil light came on together. The odd thing is the oil pressure gage continues working but the temp gauge and speed odometer both dropped to o. These gauges will jump to normal sporadically and the cel and oil light will go off but leaving the BAS on. The transmission will start to drop into gears hard. Any suggestions? 1999 S50 208K

How's the battery and charging system??
Check it; s/b above 14.3V when the engine is running. Also test the battery. |
Bat is a few years old, how do I chk the charging system?
|
The battery is in the trunk so have you checked it?? If you're like me, see what I found when I checked mine recently . . see MENU#33.
Use a voltmeter across the battery terminals. Preferably a 'battery-tester' is better since it can load the battery and see if it can recover to a min voltage (about 12.25 volts) after the load is removed. Just b/c it's "two years old" doesn't mean it's good! |
I had the bat and electrical system chkd, all look good. Had codes pulled they are the following p1747, 1605, 1163.
