I received the same book about a year ago, ordered it from Preformance Products, I think. its been a good reference book, for me to look things up, making sure I am heading in the right direction. I am glad I got it.

Just my .02. Thanks!

does the book have info that will help me track down my electrical problem. I have a 300TD Wagon. The turn signals, four way flasher and radio stopped working and the fuses are fine.

thanks!

Dap,

There is an electrical section in the back of the book. It contains schematics and such, if that will help.

What transmission procedures are covered?

Thanks,

Does this book have any information for the 1985 230E W124 ?

How comprehensive is the info? I've seen it advertised in the Performance Products catalog before but I disregarded it as a Haynes type "covers it all but not too deeply" manual. Does it tell clearances and torque specs?

CJ 12-21-2001 06:31 PM

What about diesels?

Cap'n Carageous 01-15-2002 02:26 PM

Hey RenyF1.. What happened. You got us all excited and then disappeared:confused: . We're all waiting for you to tell us the answers to all of our questions now that you have "The Book":p

Sorry everyone for not keeping track of my own post. The problem is that the Tech Help section is pretty active and the post fall to the second page by the time i get on.

Let me answer a few questions:

1) there isn't any info on diesels :-(

2) the cover says it covers the 230E

I find the book isn't super detailed but its a good starting point on things. It is a "Owners workshop manual".

Plus if the Tech Help forum is awesome too :-)

Hi,

I have found it to be a "General Maintenence" referal book. Enuf to get you going and thinking, but not enuf to get you out of trouble if you get in.

The transmission section only covers fluid change, fairly basic and simple.

I do refer to it for "normal" maintenence questions, but have not found it to be helpful for repairs.

Just my .02. Is the cd version from the dealer better? I have one from "Popular Mechanics", but it sucks, no info you wouldn't get, just by looking at the engine bay.

Thanks for your input.

I bought the body and chassis service manual from Mercedes at 1-800- FOR- MERCEDES. Two books for about sixty bucks. Way more info than I hope I ever need but I have it if I do. I guess I'll buy the engine manual from them also. The CDs are a bit pricey and I hope I don't need all that info.
