300E 124 noisy brakes
Dear Readers
While braking--usually on a downhill at low speed we occasionally get a very loud scream sound from front wheel areas--has to be worn disc-pads we think. But on checking these they have plenty of meat and the car goes perfectly. Can discpads do this from time to time? Humidity is almost zero here in South Africa. Just wondered if there is another explanation--or some way of stopping or minimising this noise. Thank you eddie |

Check the Disc Alignment Allen bolt on the disc.
Also check to see if you have the Brake Pad anti Squeal paste ont he back of the pads and or the anti squeal shims inbetween the pads and the pistons ont he caliper. I had similar noise. tightened allenbolt on disc and it was gone. Changed pad shortly after that as pads were gone too. Where in South Africa Are you? I was born in Cape Town, but Raised in Los Angeles. Alon
