Swaping cars and need advice...

I am about to swap my 1996 jeep for a 1986 Mercedes 300E, The owner of the 300E said that it would start for a few mins and then dies and wont start for a few mins to hours, he thinks the fuel pump is out, but i think its the filter, also i going to do a compression check just to be safe. for more info see the link: http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/cto/814848702.html

I am doing this is because its hard to sell and SUV with crazy gas price, as for the jeep it runs and drives but has a slight damage on the front panels and front passanger door is slightly damaged and as for the bumber is barely hanging on with missing some bolts, he is willing to take the trade all i have to do is accept his trade. So what do you think, is this a good trade i am about to do????

if you dont need to haul anything go for it. The MB is much better built as well as the design and parts are light years ahead of a domestic a whole decade newer. I find my '78 SL-C is more enjoyable to work on then my Lexus that was built two decades later.

The 124's are turning up in junkyards in droves, thus parts are easy to acquire. also the 124 is the last of the "fix them yourself" benz's. . .

He said he will tow the car for free, so i could be the realay eh?? hmm its shure way cheaper than buying 2 fuel pump  ($300+ for 2) and one more thing, how do you know if this 300E has two fuel pump?
