Constant Alarm on Radar Detector

For several months my Valentine radar detector constantly reads 7,8,or 9 alarms. It works normally in other cars. The Valentine website says "see your dealer." It detects bogeys on all frequency bands (maybe not laser). Would anyone know or venture to guess what electrical component in my car is most likely to be causing this? I have a "97 C230.

Thanks in advance

Does it produce the alerts when the car is not running? Idling but not moving? Key in accy position? How about pulling up next to the C230 in another car, plugging the detector into that car and pointing it at the C230 while it's running and not running.

There's a bunch of scenarios you can test to help hone in on the exact problem.

My hunch is "dirty" power - a loose connection that's arcing. I used to have a car that registered false alarms all the time. Turned out it needed a capacitor in the power supply to the cig lighter...

Thanks for the reply. Alarms are detected with the key in any key position. The engine does not need to be running to cause the problem. I'll try "detecting" my car while in my wife's car tonight.

Talking about radar detector....let me tell you ....
Last week I was driving on interstate 81 from Harrisburg PA to Charlotte NC
I did that run maybe 20 times i the last 6 mo. I always have my Valentine1 on.
In a portion of the hwy that never had any radar signal before suddenly 2 signal showed up on my screen. To make it even stranger the signal travel with me for 20 miles until I saw in the rear view mirror a beautiful CL63 AMG 2008.
It passed me and then the signal showed up in front of the car for another 20 miles until probably I lost it.
Conclusion :
could the Distronic be the problem?

The Distronic uses x-band radar (IIRC) so that could have very well been it. Which band did your V-1 say it was?
