Limp Mode 2000 S 500
Hello
I own a 2000 S 500 with 56k about a week ago i rinsed the car off at work with a high pressure hose after i did this it would imtermittingly start then when i tried to leave work i noticed it would not go past second gear on upshift went it to limp mode. So i ran it to the dealer and they code checked it said it had nothing to due with the water but funny thing was the intermitting no start went away when the car dries for a few days but they told me it needed shift plate starter lockout switch I assume this is the (Conductor Plate)?and said this was in the transmission and on the valve body they qoted me 1400.00 to fix i just want to make sure this is it before i fork it over. these are the coeds they came up with. ETC codes 11 20 21 107 116 129 132 135 136 Im just wondeing since the intermitten no start went away if the would the limp mode go away with the computer reset? Thanks in advance Tony Garcia |
Unless they are replacing the complete valve body??? the codes indicate ONLY a bad conductor plate & that should run $600 or so.

From what my estimate say its just the starter lockout switch they told me its on the valve body that why i kinda figured it was the conductor plate. they said the part alone was 600 bucks the rest was labor.
Do you think i should just have the dealer do it or take it to a private mercedes repair shop? Thank you for the response Tony |
The conductor plate, MB part number 140-270-08-61 lists for $225..............
The complete valve body, MB part 140-270-06-06-88 has a list of $627. Maximum labor for either should be 2 hrs X $100-125?? Add $120 for fluid, filter, & pan gasket. YOU do the math! |
