Just got my 1990 560 SEC....

Well, I just got my 1990 560SEC Delivered here by truck today.
Not a bad day..
Took her up to 130 mph.., she cruised for 3 miles at that pretty nicely.
I took a picture of the speedo at 130mph, but it didn't come out..
so, here is a shakey one at about 120mph..

The car started overheating right off the bat today when I first drove it...I pulled the radiator cap and the gasket was bad..so, I replaced it and that cured that.

The air conditioning was blowing nice and cold all day, and then air conditioning cut out on me..., it just stopped like a fuse went.
the fan does not blow or anything.

Can someone tell me where the fuse for the airconditioning is located ?
I checked the fuses right under the hood on the drivers side., but I did not
see any blown ones in there.

I did about 150 miles today around town, and my gas mileage was 19.95 mpg..,
not bad at all I would say.
I probably averaged about 45-55 miles per hour around town.

The car passed the California Smog Test today with flying colors the first time through !
Not bad for an Indiana car.

I do not know what all the things on the dash and center console do.. does anyone have a few pages of an owners manual that they could fax or email to me ?
my fax # is: 800-277-3543

Re: 1990 560 Sec A/c

You say "..the fan does not blow or anything."

I have to ask, does that mean that not only is the blower not functioning but that the A/C compressor is also not functioning?

I ask because there is a separate fuse-link outside the fuse box that controls just the blower motor, while there is a separate fuse --also outside the fuse box that potects the AC system

Why does having an Indiana car make a difference? Indiana has smog tests too. Virginia does as well as lots of other areas.

Just curious.

Aren't California's emissions standards a lot higher than most other states? O took that to be the point of his comment.

I have a 1987 560 SEC and was wondering what fuses I ought to have on hand in case of an emergency. Any recommendations? I don't even really know how many different fuses there are.

Dee8go,

This thread is 3 years old, but here is the revelant info.

In California, the cars are tested to what they were MFG with, California Emissions or 49 State(ie Federal) emissions they are tested by the sticker on the car. Federal emissions are what would be on the Indiana car IF it were not to have been sold first in California.
My 560 SEC is a Federal Car, Of course my Euro 500 SEC is federalized, but was done so in CA. hence it has to pass Ca regulations.

I carry extra fuses in all colors(Blue, Red, White) I don't carry the strip fuses as they rarely blow. But it might be a good idea.

I fill the fuse boxes with two of each color in the extra holes provided, then have two or three of each color in the glove box or in my "make it home" box in the trunk. The"Make It Home" Box Contains a used, but good ICU, An FPR, OVP, EZL, Ice Cubes Relays and any other misc. items I've had to change out (relays, switches, spark plugs and the like)......Just to get me home in the advent of a problem.

Located on the false fire wall near the brake booster is a coffin like box with an 80 amp strip fuse in it. The fuses are about $1 at online. Sorry for the fuzzy pic

As with the rest of the fuses in the "bigger" fuse box, best to use copper or brass(about $9 a sheet on ebay) red ,white and blue fuses. How patriotic.
