85 380sl won't start

I posted this on the SL forum but have yet to get any responses. Can one of you guys help me out?
This is an extra car with 83k miles usually driven once a week. Car has always started first try for 3 years, sometimes with half a pedal of gas during cranking.

My wife tried to start it and for some reason pumped the pedal 6 times to the floor before turning the key. It wouldn't start and I figured it was because it was flooded. I let the car sit over night and tried again this morning with no luck. Turns over normally but nothing else.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I would suggest figuring out what is missing: fuel, spark, compression, or timing.

Pumping the gas does nothing to that system. If its flooded that isn't the cause.

I think your thread stated the car has around 83k miles, When cranking does the engine sound different? You're in the zone for timing chain problems.

Car sounds absolutely normal when cranking, except that it doesn't fire up. It just turns over. I checked the fuel quantity, the battery and all connections between distributor and spark plugs.

Thanks for any additional suggestions.

Got it started by tapping on the fuel pump while my wife turned the key.

Drove to mechanic for a new fuel pump.
