K-jet woes
So it's gotten to the point where I'm about to scrap this car.
It's a 1983 380sel. Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. It's always had a problem with idle speed in park. It's gotten so bad now that it idles at 2k rpm, and in drive seems to goto 30mph by itself without any user input. I also feel I'm braking (when at a light, for instance) against the engine. popping the airfilter assembly off revels fuel gunk (varnish) around the IAC area, and carbon buildup all around. Honestly, how hard would it be to slap a holly on it and call it a day? I need this car to run until my rabbit gets running.

There is no way in the world you could mount a carb on that motor.
Sounds like you have a serious vacuum leak, or a problem with the idle air valve and related parts. |

TB injection could be done, even....Then again, I'd rather not throw money at this car.

The manifold is a dry manifold, so TB injection won't work. |
