Oil Pan Gasket Change 300te
1990 300te, 103.983 engine, 124.090 body sytle, 150,000 mi
I have the step-by-step instructions from the MB workshop manual. I have read all the posts relating to changing the oil pan gasket, but still not sure if I can pull it off without an engine hoist. I read of one person jacking up with two floor jacks. One on the AC mount and one on the PS mount. I have one floor jack, 2 sets of jack stands, and one set of ramps. I have done just about every other repair on this car with the help of this forum. I would really like to do it myself, but at the same time I don't relish the thought of crushing my hand either. Any suggestions are appreciated. |

got to northern hydraulics and get an engine support. bout $100. it rests on the inner fenders on pulls the motor up by the front hook. you see, when the car is on a lift, you can't use an engine hoist. and trust me, anything under the car, while on your back, trying to wrestle that pan out when EVERYTHING is OFF AND IN PERFECT PLACE, will be in the way. no room for 2 jacks or your legs if you get a hoist. i wonder if the ramps will get the front of the car far enough off the ground. that pan has to come out at a sharp angle to get out from under the motor and past the crossmember. good luck, chuck.
