1997 e320 Fuel Pump
 

My 1997 e320 will not start - so far I have replaced the CPS sensor and fuel pump. Last night I didn't have power to the fuel pump, but after taking a second look at my multimeter, I decided to use another one and was able to determine I have just shy of 10 volts getting to the pump when the engine turns over. I would have expected near 12, but would also expect 10 volts to at least run the pump if it was good. I think I have a bad pump - does anyone agree?

Do you have pressure at the Test Port on the fuel rail???????????????

There is zero pressure at the fuel rail - the pump does not come on. I should have stated this in my first post - sorry.

Compare the voltage at the pump with the voltage at the battery itself. If you have been cranking on the engine alot you might have it down to that pump voltage already.

The pump should run even with 10 volts though, right? I checked the multimeter on the battery and had right around 12 volts before testing the pump. The battery is getting worn down from trying to start the car.

If the pump needs 12 - 13 volts to kick on, perghaps I should try a different battery or hook my charger directly to the pump to see if it will come on. Can anyone confirm that 10 volts would kick a good fuel pump on?

10v is quetionable, so you thesis is correct..get 12v to the pump for testing.
