E420 Power Loss / Hesitation / Won't Rev Beyond 4k RPM

Hi folks, still trying to sort out a poorly running 1994 E420. It has 47k miles.

Shaky idle, general lack of power, worse when warm. It "feels" like it is not running on all cylnders at times, but at times it is okay. It kind of "hesitates"

But what I notice is that if I rev the engine in N to 4,000 RPMS, it sort of "cuts off" and won't rise any more.

I need to find this...don't know where to start.

Thanks friends.

OK I just was through this with my 96 SL600. I found out that MB limits RPM in park and neutral for my engine to 3800 RPM. So the cutting out sound right. The rest of your problems are something else.

It would benefit if you could get the codes.

The 4K RPM limit is Torque Converter protection .
