96 C280 Right Rear Window
The right rear window on my wife's 96 C280 will not go up. Neither the console or the door mounted switch will make the window go up. You can hear the relay click when you operate the console switch in the down direction, but nothing else, and nothing when the door mounted switch is activated. I opened up the door panel and checked for voltage at the motor. Nothing in the up direction from either switch, 12 volts in the down direction, but only from the console switch. I would just replace the console switch (she confessed to spilling a drink at the drive through today), but I would think that if the console switch was bad that the door switch would still be working.
I have read some posts about the wiring going to the door being bad. What do I need to look for in the wiring? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Without a schematic I can only speculate, but I would suspect the console switch. Often the switches are wired together. For example on my Toyota the passenger window stopped working but the cause was the drivers switch for the passenger window. You could possibly check for voltage at the door switch. If it is not there then it cannot pass it along. Did you try searching? Your car is different than mine so I can't really say more. The system changed to CAN bus in '98.
