Just learned that a safety recall on my 300E wiring harness was issued back in Mar '95 due to chafing/shorting problems.

I don't *think* there have been any electrical problems with the car (2nd owner) or if the harness has been replaced or not, or even what condition the harness is in presently. (don't even know where it's located).

My question is: are safety recalls good for the life of the car? I wouldn't mind having the harness replaced for free because I'm certain I'll have problems with it in the future if indeed the original factory harness is still there.

factory can pull an inquiry on their system for your vehicle based upon the VIN and let you know

you may also call MB USA for official word on on evergreen recalls

Just learned thru MBUSA that there are no outstanding recalls on my '91 300E (work was performed).

Go here http://www.alldata.com/recalls/ and lookup your year 300E to check for safety recalls, then call 1-800-367-6372 (MBUSA) and tell operator you want to speak to someone regarding recall information.

Have your VIN # handy and they'll look it up for you.

turns out we have different models (don't know how i got that notion) but the safety recalls are there anyway. thanks for the info, got to have the printout done but don't have my vin handy at the moment.
