battery draw amps
 
my 91 190E 2.6 has a parastic battery draw. i measured the current draw at my battery and it was 1.8 milliamps which seems too high. what should it be in a car that doesnt have a battery drain problem?

Every car with a clock has a battery draw. 1.8 miliamps seems very small.

I realize that but i should be able start the car. My point is something on fuse 12 is draining the battery to the point where It cant turn the starter over. THIS is not normal.

When i disconnect the central pump for the central locking system I can go out in 3 or 4 days and start the car with no problems. As soon as I put fuse 12 back in i cant start the car at all after 3 or 4 days. I have isolated the problem having a central locking system would be nice.

What is the normal battery draw on this car that doesnt have a parastic battery drain? Anyone know? thats all want to know...

If your draw was really 0.0018 amps/hr and you have a 600 amp hour battery it would take about 1,250 days to deplete the battery, so I don't think the 0.0018 amp draw is correct. You probably have some other problem that you haven't identified yet. One possibility is a shorted pair of diodes in the alternator, which will would discharge your battery rather quickly. Another possibility is that something is coming on intermittently and drawing down the battery, like maybe your vacuum pump cycling due to a vacuum leak. I think you need to do some more diagnostic work on the problem.

I agree with Richard on the vacuum leak. That could be cycling your vacuum pump and eventually drawing the battery down. If you pull the fuse, when you go to open up the car a few days later, do the power door locks ALL work? If the door locks don't work then I would check the door vac elements.

Anything more than 1/2 AMP is cause for concern. Clock, stereo's station memory and alarm should be only items causing a current drain.

Although I'm not familiar with a 190e, I assume it has a vac reservoir . Check the vac line to and from it. Sometimes the lines get disconnected or holes from rubbing.

heated outside doorlocks perhaps
 
I had a bmw 635 where the heated door lock for the key wasn't switching off when it was warm..would drain the battery after a couple of days if the car wasn't started/run....especially in warm weather of all conditions....just a guess, but the lock for the key was warmer than normal in non-winter conditions...just a guess

hooked up in series with your battery should tell you when and how much current is being drawn from the battery. There are instrument shops which rent them out. The 1.8 ma (if that is an accurate measurement) will not draw down the battery over a few days.
