Anti theft alarm

Just bought a 1991 300 sl. Is there any way to disable the anti theft alarm system, ie a fuse, relay etc? To me its more trouble than it's worth. Also what is the best and least expensive way to get a repair manual or C.D. for my model? I have a C.D. for my 76 450sel which is OK but would like a paper manual for the 91 if they are available. Thanks, Milterino.

You can probably just unplug the alarm control unit which is in the trunk near the filler neck of the fuel tank. Later cars have a relay interupting starting but a 91 should just unplug.

The best info would be on the 129 CD including the best wiring diagrams ever created in the webetms that are included. The CDs can be noted on the sticky post at the top of this forum. Don't use the original post, those CDs are crap go to about the third post down.

Anti theft alarm

Steve; Thanks for your reply. I checked the trunk By the filler tube and all I see is what appears to be the operating unit for the tank lock(something about 2.5" by 2 with a red button on it and 3 yellow plastic vacum hoses attached to it) and what looks to be a radio amplifyer(about 10x8x2 inches). Is this unit you refer to very small or hard to see back there? Does it have electric connections to it? Milterino.

Anti theft alarm

Steve: I think I have found something. In the spare tire wheel well there is an electric box aboout 2x3x7 inches with a vacum connection and 2 electic connections one with 3 wires and on with multi wires. It is stowed in a thick foam rubber carrier. The part no. is 0132 006 321. Now to figure out what to do. Thanks for your assistance. Milterino.

That sounds like the door lock pump. It won't be the alarm controller if it is.

Steve: Door lock pump, that's a new one for me. Well I will just keep looking and if nothing else can always bring it to a mechanic. Thanks, Milterino.

Anti theft alarm

Well, I am convinced it s the pump I had found. I have made some progress. As per the owners manual if the alarm goes off you can stop it by turning the key in the drivers door. This doesn 't work however if I turn the key in the passengers side door it stops the alarm. So at least I can stop the thing. Milterino.

You can also shut it off from the trunk. So your problem is the door switch drivers side.
