1996 MB E320 - Problem with ECU(engine Control Uniit)
First, if anyone knows any specialized MB Technician in brooklyn, NY area, please give me his phone number. I need his service ASAP.
The ECU in my car was defective, so I replaced the ECU with one from another mercedes. The new ECU has same serial# like the previous one in my car. However, the car turns over but won't start. When my mechanic ran diagnostics, it says: DRIVE AUTHORIZATION FAILED. My mechanic said it is because the new ECU, even though it has the same serial number as the original ECU, does not contain the correct information for my car. He suggested that, for that ECU to work on my car, I need to get something called RCL or DAS from the same car where I got the current ECU. However, I understand that the ECU can be reprogramed to enable my car to work. How do I resolve this problem? Any direction will be greatly appreciated. tgifgemini. P.S. I can be reached at: 347-859-3145. |

Starting in 1996 MB uses anti-theft system that marries the fuel EUC with the car.
YOU cannot switch that computer with a used one! THERE is 1 company here in the USA that can 'un-marry" that computer from the previous car & allow that computer to be married to your car. Beckmann technologies in NC
