W210 or W211: Sorry, Silly Question?

My question is rather simple, and I feel I have the answer already, but I need confirmation of my choice.

I'm looking to get a E55 AMG, either a 2002 W210 or a 2003-2004 W211. Any thoughts on which one you'd get???

Sorry about this, but I have no where else to ask a group of experts like you all!

Thanks so much

David

For me the 2002 W210 chassis would be the choice!

The W211 car has had way too many issues! Starting in 2007 that car would be acceptable

Thanks..that what I thought..

Any other opinions?

W210 have proved to be better. The early W211'S have had mnay electrical issues. A great car except for the electronical issues. If you want a W211 I would recommend an 07 or newer. All the bugs have been worked out. Of the choices you said above. 2002 E55 AMG hands down.

Also don't forget about the infamous SBS in the W211!

2007 and newer E class cars no longer have SBS.

Which one is right for you depends on the tradeoff between cost, reliability, and performance which you desire to achieve. The 210 chassis E55 is certainly a nice, reliable, quick car. It has roughly 350HP and 355lb-ft of torque. But it's no match for the supercharged 211 - it has 125 additional HP and (from fallible memory...) 516lb-ft of torque. It is a monster.

Just curious, since I don't keep track of such things. What is the current market price for a nice, late 210 E55 vs. an early 211?
