190 E2.6 air filter lid hose connections -Please help
 

I have 190E2.6 , 1989. I replaced the air filter but 1/4 inch hose discunnected, this hose is from the shaped hose (1/2 inch) that connect from engin to air filter lid. Please help on how this 1/4 inch hose connect to and if you have a picture it would help.

any help on passing the smog test, would be appreciated.

The 1/4" vacuum line you mentioned should connect to the underside of the breather hose which runs from the air filter housing to the valve cover.

What kind of smog issues are you having? I recently got mine through CA testing with great results.

Thanks for the help, but the 1/4 inch from breather hose to where it should connect, it seem to be connected to some where close to fule injector.

the smog test show that HC is at 122 at 15mph (limit is 114)and 120 at 25 mph (limit is 88).

Try doing a search for "M103 smog, failed smog, failed emissions", etc. There is a lot of information. One of the most important things is to have the cat well heated up and to keep it hot while waiting for the test. All the usual items (ignition, fuel, vacuum, fresh oil, gas cap gasket etc.) should be in good condition also.

I know that one end connect to male but Where the other end of the pipe goes to?
to fule pressure regulator, if it does but there is no pipe coming out from pressure regulator to connect. All the picture I see for pressure regulator show the wrong end.

I'm sorry, but I mis-read your post. The line going from the breather hose goes down to the back side of the fuel pressure regulator. There should be a fitting on the side of the FPR that faces the valve cover, if not, maybe a PO broke it off. This is a vent line, not a vacuum line.

How does the car run, how long have you owned it, what state are you in?

Thanks Riorust for the help, I am new to fixing, so excuse me for not understanding some of the abbreviations, what is PO and PM mean?

I connected the line from the breather hose to back of the fuel pressure regulator by forcing it in the hole on the back of the fuel pressure regulator, no piece of pipe coming out of the fuel pressure regulator.

for smog, I changed the oil and air filter. I think, I should have used 10W30 instead of 5W30.

I had the car for the last 2 years and this is the first time working on it, so far I have been taking it to mechanic for oil change and minor mechanical problems

I think I know, what PO mean, and you are right, they broke it off.
