Question Parking brake shoe replacement 300CE

I am busy replacing the parking brake shoes on my 1991 300CE and I am having a hard time getting the return spring hooked in behind the shoes. (Thats the spring where the adjuster is - hope I have called the parts by the right name) Anyone have any ideas as to how to get this spring hooked in with less trouble? This is my first Mercedes and I am not used to the German engineering being a Ford man all my life! Must this spring be hooked in from behind or can it be hooked in from the front?

I've done this job a couple of times. I bought the special tools which make the job a snap. They are both Hazet tools number 4964-1 and 2730. Yes they are expensive but I thought they were well worth it.
