S500 long cranking times
 

our 94 S500 is taking a while to crank up can any one point me to what is causing this

Most common problem is build-up of corrosion in the distributor caps & rotors. Also is the check engine lamp on??

thanks no warning lights could the filter be clogged? the car has 196000 we just got it 6 miles
ago no papers or book with the car

How do you know what is the proper length of time to crank then? What are you comparing it to?

I did a search on Fenix's past posts. It appears that he has had this car for six months, not six miles as indicated in his post. I assume that the starting time has gotten longer during this period. This is an M119 engine, right? You may want to look at the DIY section on this website which discusses and illustrates rotor and cap inspection and replacement for this generation engine.

maybe the battery or starter is acting up (battery acting down)?

If what you mean that your S500 is "taking a while to crank up" by the starter turning over slower then it very well might be your battery not putting the full 13.2V out or your alternator not charging you battery fully.

is cranking fast it takes 15 seconds or just have give it two times batt is strong i did a fuel ps test and i was getting 50 and 60 with vacuum line off after filter change 55 to 60 i did notice a small amount of fuel in the vacuum line also in about 10 minutes the pressure drops to about 40 then less does the pressure has to hold after motor is off or how long?

First thing is to take a look at the caps & rotors. If they're not new or in very good shape, you need to bite the bullet and replace those parts. At least then you'll know where you stand ignition-wise.

thanks but i think i found it in about 25 minutes it goes down to 5 pounds and if you open the key it goes to 50 starts if you go back in 3 minutes it works fine i just came from getting a new check
valve to see if it works. thanks again guys

Fenix, I think you are typing about 30% of what you are trying to communicate.

Questions I was left with after reading your last post:

1) it took you 25 minutes to find the problem?
2) 5 pounds of what?
3) how do you open a key?

thanks guys I changed the check valves in both fuel pumps and problem solved after 45 minutes it only goes down to 39 psi starts under 5 seconds.
i did found small amount of fuel in the vacum hose
that connects to the fuel pressure regulator i think is a about to go bad
