400E check engine light code
 

The check engine light on my 400E just came on, and I need to get a smog check. To my delight, they wont smog my car if the light is on.

I checked the code, and it gives me 6 flashes. Does anyone know what that means on a '92 400E?

Any help would be great. Also, does disconnecting the battery reset the check engine light?

Kyle - disconnecting the battery will clear the light until you go through a few engine cycles. It will come back on after awhile if you do not resolve the problem. Wait for someone with more information than me but on the E320 the six flashes mean there is a problem with the idle speed control system.

Ya, I think you are right, I'll leave the light alone and get it fixed. The idle speed control system problem sounds familiar, I think my mechanic mentioned it to me a little while back (hope that's not it, it was expensive to fix)
