Just Bought a 1995 E320 Wagon
Yesterday, I purchased a 1995 E320 Wagon with 108,000 miles on it. It's in MINT condition, everything single works!!!! My wife loves it!!!
I searched the forum and printed everything relevent that I should look for/inspect prior to purchasing it.....Head Gasket was done at 80K, wiring harness looks brand new (I peeled back some insulation to insure there was no corrision on the wire), tested the leveling system - ok!!!! Took it for an 80 mile test drive around Atlanta's perimeter (I-285), came back and saw no apparent leaks from the timing cover, oil pan or transmission! I just bought this car for $2900.00!!!!!!! (I guess the current economic climate yields great prices, these days) The car has an M104, just like my 1997 E320 sedan, my question is: Should this "new" wagon use premium gas like my 1997 E320 does????? The previous owner stated thta they used mid-grade gasoline and had never encountered problems! ps, I never knew that a station wagon could move out like this one does, I nailed it on the highway and almost had an orgasm! |
and I thought I did well. How the heck did you talk them down to that?
|
Didn't have to!!! They agreed to knock off 200 bucks!!! The guy just had too many cars, I guess???....VERY nice people, very honest!!!...At the very least, I'll be sending them a Christmas card! Here's the original craigslist ad.

I suppose he just looked up the wholesale price and added on a a few hundred bucks. Its understandable since dealer trade in low-balling is worse than ever, and it is often a hassle selling a car private party. If you want it gone quick and possess more money than time, that's the way to go I guess. What color is the exterior?
Here is the ad for mine. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/918616258.html They are quite orgasmic, aren't they? |
Wow! That car is CLEAN! Almost as clean as the one I just bought <snicker> :-)...Just kidding!!!.....I'm going to tint the windows (side passenger and all rear) I've seen a few tinted out like that, really makes the car look even more sleeker....Also, mine is polar white, I'm going to remove the grill shell/screen and paint it white......Ebay sells upgraded grill kits for about 30 bucks that gives you additional chrome strips to mondernize the grill.....In the future, I may go with an AMG grill (it really spices this car up quite nicely)......Also, I lucked out, it came with practically brand new Michellins all the way around!!!!!! My wife loves it, she has been currently driving our W126 300SD, we now have 4 Mercedes!!!!

Since you asked,,,,, Painted the grille and all the lowers to match. Tinted all the rear windows. Put a 500E sway bar in the rear, and Eibach springs in the front to improve the handling and give it a more agressive stance. 17" AMG's with 215/45's really make it handle like my SL,,,, almost. Have put about 60K on it since 01 and hope to drive it for a long time yet. Repairs have been average I hope. A new tranny at 90K was the most major expense, but I will do the a/c evaporator this winter. Wiring harness is like new yet, and I suspect it was swapped out early in it's life, and there is no inkling of any head gasket problems to date. A few minor issues have been addressed with great imput from this forum and Arthur Dalton in particular and all in all, I feel sorry for anyone who has never been able to own one of these marvelous machines.:D

YES The previous owner stated thta they used mid-grade gasoline and had never encountered problems! Maybe they never "nailed it" and realized what it could do for them!!! I spend the extra money on Premium. It might give slightly better mpg and acceleration. ps, I never knew that a station wagon could move out like this one does, I nailed it on the highway and almost had an orgasm! Maybe the PO put Premium fuel in it once they decided to sell it. |
BigDaddy,
Nice score on the wagon. Any pics? |
Unbelieveably, I just bought a 2000 wagon for a decent price and will be selling my 95 soon. Will post details when I get it ready.

Congrats! Premium it is, factory call out. My wife took a liking to the one I purchased, Windstar was sold soon after. Now that its hers, I get to do what I would do anyway (maint and repair) but NOTHING else. She doesn't understand that it needs to be lowered, or could really, really use a 5 spd. Anyone need a set of H&R lowering springs for the TE with SLS? They are collecting dust in the garage, as new condition, $200 plus UPS. The 5 spd conversion kit will go into the 95 sedan when it someday comes back from Mom.:D
