1996 W210 Transmission Fluid
Being a former motor transport officer in the Marine Corps, I'm a big believer in preventive maintenance. I've been told that with 120K on my 1996 E320, if the transmission is working well, I should just leave the current fluid in it. The transmission works great, but I was thinking about dropping the pan and changing the filter and fluid in the transmission and the torque converter because I want it to continue to work great. The fluid was changed once at 39K during a visit to the dealer, when another family member owned the car. Thoughts?

You have a 722.3xx transmission. It should serviced every 30k miles with new filter and fluid - Dexron III.

Trans would be a 722.4, 4spd auto.
Requires regular service as stated. |
A 96 E300D would be a .4 but a 96 E320 gas is a 722.329. You could look it up - on EPC for example.
