560 SEL Door Panel

The power window mechanism broke on the drivers side of my 1987 560 SEL. I tried to get the door panel off however I am doing more damage than good. Can you please tell me the proper way to remove the panel? Also is the molded handle secured to the door frame and how do I remove that?

Thanks

Marc P

To remove the door panel do the following. Remove the plastic peice behind the door latch. Look for a small place to pry it free. Once this is done there is a screw near the latch which will allow the metal piece arround the door latch to be removed, revealing a large screw that holds the door pull on. Then there are two large screws on the underside of the "elbow rest" part of the door pull that will allow the entire door pull to be removed. Then there is a small screw located on the bottom edge about center of the door panel that holds the panel down. Remove it and slide the entire panel up. It should come off except for any wires attached to the lamps etc. Do not try to pry the panel away from the door cuz you will break off the plastic clips molded into the door panel. Good luck.
